The Overland 2018
This is a hard course. The 2018 winning time of Ted King was 2:23:45 — an incredible performance. For most, this ride should take between 3 and 4 hours, so plan on it. There are two places to fill up on water and only at one of them you can buy food. At mile 22, before you turn left of Rt 106 onto Knapp Brook Rd, continue straight (about 1 mile from the turn) into downtown Reading where you’ll find Watroba’s General Store. This place is as “Vermont” as it gets. Fill up on water, grab a doughnut and get back on your way. The other water stop is at the Reading/West Windsor Food Shelf which lies around mile 32. This place has an ever-flowing spring out front with ice-cold water. It looks sketchy, but it’s not! Enjoy the pavé, the views and the local Vermont culture you’ll find along this route.
Parking: Peter Vollers (owner of Vermont Overland) encourages riders to park in his field to start and finish their rides. Hospitality at it’s finest.
